The Bus of Imagination
Our Background
Situated in the picturesque village of Snarestone, on the edge of the National Forest and approx. 3 miles from Junction 11 of the M42/A42, Evergreen Lodge Nursery & Preschool is situated in a tranquil, rural setting, perfect for introducing inquisitive minds to the beauty of natural surroundings.
The setting was founded in 2023 by sisters Charlotte Saunders and Rachel Bird, who had a lifelong dream to combine their individual experiences within different fields and create a new childcare venture within the village they spent a happy childhood. With many memories of the untouched countryside and open fields, they thought it the perfect opportunity to introduce a fresh, new childcare provision to an area they were already familiar with and had shared many exciting adventures. They were inspired to increase the provision of early years care within the local area; and visioned the opportunity to include care focussing on the curiosity approach to enhance learning development.

Our Lodge
Our lovely, spacious timber lodge is now registered to accommodate 63 children aged between 3 months to 5 years, across 2 bright, stimulating rooms –
Baby Room (Robins)
, and
Preschool Room (Sparrows)
. Each room is well equipped with a wide range of toys and other educational learning resources (most of which are made from natural materials), varied role-play areas and open-ended resources, encouraging children to develop their imagination as well as build confidence, social skills and curiosity. Whilst we encourage lots of interaction with the outdoor area, such as surrounding fields, woodland, our allotment and our
"Bus of Imagination"
to enhance physical development, we also have the luxury of a home-from-home environment offering natural light, spacious rooms and warmth. We are also very lucky to have underfloor heating throughout, which we think is amazing. There are several areas set up and equipped to help the children feel at home, relaxed, comfortable and safe. As we are the sole occupants of our secure setting, we will encourage lots of “free flow” play, where the children can decide for themselves whether they play indoors or outdoors.
Our New Wrens Toddler Room
We're excited to share some lovely developments within our setting. Evergreen continues to grow, and we are incredibly proud of the warm, nurturing environment we have built together with our families and our fantastic team. Our focus remains the same: creating a happy, safe and inspiring place where children feel confident, supported and excited to learn every day.
We're delighted to share that we have now expanded into three additional log cabins on-site. This is a huge step forward for Evergreen and will bring wonderful new opportunities for the children.
Our Wrens toddlers have moved into a larger, self-contained space, giving them more room to explore, play and develop independence. This also allows us to create more space within the main building for our Sparrows preschool children, enhancing learning environments and daily experiences across the nursery.
We have created new spaces to better support both children and our growing team. One of the smaller cabins has become our “Team Retreat”, giving staff a well-deserved quiet space for breaks, meetings and training, with the other becoming the “Evergreen Hub”, providing a dedicated office and family support space.
These improvements also allow us to reimagine existing areas. Our former staffroom has already become a much-loved role-play and learning space, and our current office will be transformed into a SEN and Reflection Room, offering children a calm, supportive environment whenever they need it. Supporting wellbeing and individual needs continues to be central to everything we do, and we're excited to witness the positive impact these spaces will make to daily nursery life
